Te Awamutu College has a Kapa Haka Group, "Te Hokai Rangatahi". It welcomes any new students.

The College has a performance-based music programme in Year 9 and 10 that enables students to study a range of courses that enable them to gain the entry requirements ofthe NCEA Music Courses in the Senior School.
Senior Concert Band and Jazz Band are auditioned groups which cater mainly for students who have reached a higher level of musicianship.
Student-driven vocal and rock groups are encouraged.
